Lieberman "a Karl Rove Mole in Democratic Party." Democrats with "NO AGGRESSIVE PUSHBACK" are ALLOWING Rove and Lieberman to SAVAGE election 2006....

A Terrific column by Jane Hamsher .

Here, the MAGIC WORDS are not just that "Karl Rove HAS A MOLE DEEP WITHIN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, and that mole is Joe Lieberman."

No, Jane's truly magic insight is that there is...

"...NO AGGRESSIVE Democratic PUSHBACK" to Lieberman's 'savage Dems from within' campaign.

A campaign that will do to Democrats in 2006 what Zell Miller did to Democrats in 2004, what Karl Rove did to Democrats in 2002, and what Joe Lieberman did to Democrats in 2000.

ONCE AGAIN, we voters will have a campaign where our Democrat "leaders" REFUSE TO FIGHT BACK against Republican SMEARS, LIES, falsehoods, and multi-billion dollar, 'we own the media AND the voting machines' corruption.

It is EXACTLY for those reasons - that cowering Dem. leaders ALLOW back-stabbing Democrats like Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman to throw each and every national election into disarray, and that COWERING Dem. 'leaders' like John Kerry STAND THERE like a box of rocks and ALLOW Republicans to SMEAR our candidates and issues - that C-dems.blgspt.com is necessary in the first place.

Over at Bloomberg.com, Margaret Carlson notes that voting Democrats are...
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&refer=columnist_carlson&sid=a0lpf_d.cQyE

"...Democrats are FED UP with the BIPARTISANSHIP THAT GETS THE WRONG THINGS DONE. With the Middle East aflame, the economy slowing and the minimum wage held hostage to the wealthy getting even wealthier by cuts in the estate tax, the day of reasonable, centrist politics for most Democrats is over.
- OVER, because the other side doesn't practice it. [Bipartisanship is] OVER because this president who launched a war deceitfully and with insufficient planning and troops doesn't deserve it. OVER because if you disagree with the president over his disaster in Iraq, YOU ARE ACCUSED of wanting to cut and run, of not supporting the troops. OVER because if you disagree on cultural issues, you're called a baby killer who dishonors the traditional family."

Very well said, Margaret!
continuing, Carlson writes:

"NO MORE Compromise with George W. Bush!" Margaret recounts the cry of Dem voters, whose president's "idea of compromise is to STICK HIS THUMB IN THE EYE of Congress at the very moment he's signing legislation by issuing a simultaneous 'signing statement' saying he will abide by the new law when he feels like it."

Unfortunately, not only does Joe Lieberman not "get it," but neither, fully, does Margaret Carlson.

She notes all these "baby-killer!' and "cut and run" (aka "AIDING THE ENEMY", which in wartime is TREASON) epitaths hurled at the Democrats and their voters, and notes that Joe Lieberman's campaign is already ASSISTING Karl Rove to hurl MORE such epitaths at Dems in the critical election 2006. Yet STILL Margaret Carlson insists that Lieberman is "one of the most decent politicians who ever lived."

HUH?!!

WHAT DRUGS ARE YOU ON, Margaret?

We here at C-Dems.blgspt.com are quite happy to report that Margaret Carlson no longer writes for Time magazine, not that we ever read Time magazine's main-stream-media right-wing-stalking-points propaganda. But Margaret Carlson's above comments about how Lieberman is AIDING the Karl Rove-Republican SMEARING of Democrats, while she insists that Lieberman is "ONE OF THE MOST DECENT POLITICIANS WHO EVER LIVED," just shows how shabby a proponent of the Democratic anti-Bush-Rove-Cheney agenda Carlson ever was in the first place, certainly not deserving of space as the (sole) token "liberal" writer on the Time magazine editorial staff. And, like most of the "media elite," Carlson doesn't even think that Lieberman's BETRAYAL of Black voters in 2000 is even worth mentioning, much less, heaven forbid, an indictment of his "decency"! (Not to overlook Lieberman's support of the credit extortion "reform" bill, LIeberman's "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" about the Deibold/Republican privatization of the US voting process, or Lieberman's signing on to the Republican prescription drug extort-taxpayers-and-consumers bill, among only three of Lieberman's "big lobbyist" betrayals of American citizens and consumers.)

Unfortunately, as David Sirota has noted in his masterpiece editorial about the DC pundit elites, the elite Democrats are almost as scornful of "small-d" democracy and voters, as the Beltway pundits who now openly scorn and DESPISE American voters and democracy are.
http://davidsirota.com/index.php/2006/08/11/finally-the-dc-media-admits-the-truth-about-itself/

Which only bolsters the contention we here at CowardlyDemocrats.blogspot.com made long ago: that the Democratic "leadership" IS OUT TO LOOSE the mid-term elections this year, and thereby HAND George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove
and the Republican Party UNLIMITED LICENSE to SMEAR ALL DEMOCRATIC VOTERS as "treasonous" when the Bush admin. cranks up the next steps in its WIDER WAR agenda, and ever more draconian restrictions, spying, summary arrests, detentions, and suppression of freedoms here in America.

Democrats, YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION to DEFEND your voters. Letting Joe Lieberman pull a "ZELL MILLER" in 2006, without the Democratic Party IMMEDIATELY pulling out all the stops to isolate AND REJECT Joe Lieberman, is as massive a BETRAYAL of that obligation to support and protect Democratic voters, as the 2000 Democratic Senate REJECTION of the Black Congressional Caucus' demand for a Congressional investigation into Republican vote-fraud and felony disenfranchisement in Florida was.

FOR SHAME! The COWERING DEMOCRATS are allowing the SAME OLD SMEAR, DISTORT, CONFUSE, and INTIMIDATE tactics of Karl Rove and George W. Bush to hatch again in 2006, WITHOUT ANY AGGRESSIVE PUSHBACK.

"WITHOUT ANY AGGRESSIVE PUSHBACK" might as well be the epitath of the Democratic Party and democracy in America, with these Joe-friendly elitist clowns looking for new excuses to loose elections and hand massive swaths of power over to the corrupt Bush-Republican autocracy.

It never ceases to amaze me the thoroughness with which establishment media can instantly internalize the right's talking points. Mike Allen of Time Magazine announces that a Lamont win is Good For the Republicans. As Atrios noted, when is anything not good for the Republicans? But already in the face of no aggressive Democratic pushback and against all evidence to the contrary, a Lamont win is attributable to angry blosopheric hippies and it's accepted as CW that Karl Rove will happily run on cut-and-run Democrats in November.

Except Allen neglects to mention that he won't be doing it alone. Rove now has a mole deep within the Democratic party helping him out, and the mole's name is Joe Lieberman. Rove has put the word out that Connecticut Republicans are no longer supposed to push Alan Schlessinger and his awkward gambling problem out of the race, because he wants Joe Lieberman and his giant wounded ego running against the Democrats from within the Democratic party. It doesn't look like Joe will see his dream fulfilled of getting the GOP nomination in CT after all. His useful idiocy depends on his willingness to keep the Democratic party in chaos and running against their own in November with silly narratives like "hippies, negros and communists vs. rational centrists (hat tip Marty Peretz).

I realize there was a window when it was necessary to give Joe some graceful exit room, but he's not taking it. He's barricaded himself in his bubble of wounded delusion, refusing to answer the hotel door when Chris Dodd came a-knockin' while staring into that magic mirror which whispers to him he's a Great Man. If allowed to do so by major Democrats like Schumer, Reid and Clinton, he will single-handedly undermine the ability of Democrats to run nationally against an unpopular war and keep the party in disarray as people like Ken Salazar undermine it from within by legitimizing Joe's crybaby beef. The GOP messaging on this has so far gone unanswered, even as right wing ghouls like Dan Senor are dispatched to take the place of Lieberman's lame Democratic consultants and commence the swiftboating of Lamont and those who could capitalize on his victory.

I understand they are in a tough position at the moment that I do not envy, but it would be nice to see those in leadership positions within the Democratic party find their voices over this one and show some, you know, leadership before it is too late.
