THANK GOD for Ned Lamont! IF this candidate with character, charisma, business smarts, and determination had not chosen to run against Joe Lieberman, and had not marshaled the Democratic voters in Connecticut to DEFEAT Lieberman in Tuesday's Democratic primary race... we here at C-dems.blgspt.com would still have to be circumspect in our thrashing of Joe Lieberman, knowing full well that Lieberman is a traitor to the principles of the Democratic Party and 'small-d' democracy, but not being able to shout "TRAITOR!" quite as objectively.
Thanks to Lamont's winning campaign, it is now clear that Joe Lieberman is, once again, a have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too hypocrite masquerading as a moderate, a RIGHT-WING SHILL for the George Bush administration, just as ZELL MILLER was at the Repuglican 2004 primary, where Miller sneered on national TV that John Kerry and the Democrats (and millions of Democratic voters) wanted to defend America only "with spitballs."
And the truly wonderful thing about Lamont's amazing primary - Lamont overcoming a senator with EIGHTEEN YEARS incumbency, a senator who was a former VP candidate of the Dem. party and a seasoned campaigner with a TWENTY MILLION DOLLAR corporate corruption warchest - is that Ned Lamont has, once and for all, kicked over the rotted log and has SHOWN us THE MAGGOTS and TERMITES feasting on that rotting log - the corporate, DLC 'Democrats' whose PRIME MOTIVATION is sucking up to corporate lobbyists and JOINING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY in RIPPING OFF AMERICAN CONSUMERS and TAXPAYERS so to feather their beds and pad the profits of their K-street consulting companies.
We recently had the great privilege of going to the Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young concert at an open-air venue. This band is composed of legendary Rock musicians who were vocally protesting the Vietnam war all the way back... in 1966, when Stephen Stills wrote and sang lead on the Buffalo Springfield song "For What It's Worth", with among others the lines "there's a man with a gun over there, telling me I've got to beware" and "What a field day for the heat [riot police], a thousand people in the streets. Not only were the band's singers (David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young) famous for their coordinated male vocal harmonies which amazingly integrated soft, acoustic vocal songs with hard-driving country-rock electric guitar songs on the same albums, but they continued to write protest and anti-war songs in all their albums through their careers to present. If you'll excuse the above 2-paragraph diversion into the this slice of 1960's-to-present protest music, what is important is that as the band performs Neil's "let's impeach the president for lying" title protest song, they simultaneously ran videos of president LYING, BOLD FACED, on the concert-sized video monitors, so the entire audience could make no mistake that President Bush is, indeed, a liar.
In one ten-second clip President Bush states bold-faced "I never said that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction." In the very next ten-second clip (seamlessly edited in one continuous stream of non-stop lies) President Bush is seen saying exactly that, "Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction!" In another, more telling clip, the president drones on "We're going to get Osama bin Laden DEAD OR ALIVE... we're going to find his cave and smoke him out," followed immediately by Bush's infamous 2002 comments at a White House press conference:
Bush- "So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him...
Q- But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?
Bush: I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him... I know he is on the run....HE HAS NO PLACE TO TRAIN HIS al Qaida KILLERS ANYMORE."
