BRAVO! Democrats TAKE A STAND! "Phased withdrawl US military from Iraq"

BRAVO! Democrats TAKE A STAND against the criminally CORRUPT and MUDEROUSLY INCOMPETENT Bush administration. As our previous post documented, failure and incompetence on a FARCICAL level are the DEFINING ATTRIBUTES of the Bush-Rumsfeld-Cheney administration. The ONLY thing they are good at it stealing elections, cowing Democrats, and inciting enough of their 'core-voters' to flock to polls to enable those election-day "diebold vote swaps."

Sure, Rumsfeld used CLINTON'S MILITARY to conquer Iraq. Given US airpower (fine-tuned and restocked after the Bosnia-Kosovo war) and high-tech equipment, it was obvious that neither Saddam's depleted military or the Taliban could resist the US military machine frontally.

THAT SHOULD HAVE MADE THE PRIME US military responsibility (read, Rusmsfeld, Cheney, Bush) to FORESTALL any lingering resentment, much less giving the natives a genuine reason to foment and support a massive resistance movement.

You know, like the one that drove the RED ARMY from Afghanistan!

Instead (and we COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP here at C-dems.blgspt.com), we have Rumsfeld so arrogant and close-minded in his "victory" over Saddam's forces (can we all say together SHOCK AND AWE!" "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!") that he, literally, had American soldiers and Marines LOCKED DOWN IN THEIR UNITS DOING KP duty - PEELING POTATOES! - as Iraqi insurgents looted TONS of explosives from Saddam's ammunition bunkers. One US soldier wrote that Iraqis would GLADLY have peeled potatoes for the leftover scraps and some potable water; and Rumsfeld instead had the troops confined to camp, while INSURGENTS carted off TONS OF BOMBS and EXPLOSIVES from Al Qaaqa and other Iraqi ammunition complexes.

!!!!!!!!!!!

WASHINGTON -- Congressional Democrats, seizing on public discontent over the war in Iraq, will offer legislation this week calling for a phased withdrawal of troops from Iraq and a shifting of forces to other nations, where supporters say American soldiers will be less likely to come under attack.

The resolution, crafted by Democratic Senators Jack Reed of Rhode Island and Carl Levin of Michigan, will headline a second week of debate in Congress over the state of the war. It is the first real debate Congress has held on the war since the US invasion in early 2003.
Senate Democrats, many of whom voted to authorize force in Iraq but have become critics of the war, will unveil a resolution today demanding that President Bush begin phasing out US troop presence in Iraq this year.
The resolution, expected to come to the floor as early as tomorrow, also would call on Bush to provide a plan to redeploy remaining troops after 2006, but it does not specify where troops should be moved and how many might come home.
Under the proposal, a small contingent of American troops would be kept in Iraq to train local forces so they can take control of their own country.
