Dems in House FIGHT BACK vs Repub "voting fraud!" intimations.... (Figures that it's the HOUSE Dems who are FIGHTING back...)
Today Republicans in the House (courtesy C-SPAN) were pushing their bill to require PHOTO-ids for voters, using VOTE FRAUD as their main rational for enacting such a bill. (HR-4844)
Representative DAN BURTON, D-Ind., got up and took over where his colleagues left off, pushing the "ILLEGAL ALIENS VOTING IN AMERICAN ELECTIONS" angle of voting fraud as reason to demand nationwide nationwide photo-id for voting. Rep. Burton made, (we must concede) the fair and logical point that just as Voting Rights laws assert the means to protect the rights of elegible American citizens to vote (which should be to assert the right of ALL American citizens to vote), Rep. Burton stated that potential ILLEGAL VOTING could negate, compromise, or undercut fair voting and elegible voting.
Democrat Ranking Admin. Committee member Rep. Juanita Millender-McDonald (D-CA) came back with the PERFECT rejoinder: "Representative Burton, you are alluding to IMMIGRATION ISSUES, and I welcome YOUR COMMITTEE sending us a bill on that subject."
BRAVO for Rep. Millender-McDonald! Too bad there aren't MORE Democrats as fast on their feet, and as sharp with their wit, as Rep. Millender-McDonald. (Who, we might mention, was a hell of a lot more articulate that some of her committee co-members.)
Rep. Millender-McDonald also mentioned, in her closing comments, the stark probability of VOTING FRAUD.. at the sytematic, VOTING MACHINE level, where Americans have ABSOLUTELY NO ASSURANCE that their votes are being counted, tabulated, and posted accurately, vote totals posted according to honest voting tabulation that reflect the intention of voters casting their votes on election day.
