No doubt about it, Kristen Britweiser is one of the 9-11 widows, in particular (that is to say) one of the 9-11 widows who (Gasp!) became a "POLITICAL_ACITIVIST" after the Bush-Cheney administration REPEATEDLY THREW ROADBLOCKS and DELAYS into the creation and formation of a national commission to INVESTIGATE the events and national security failures that led up to the 9-11 hijackings and tragic, nation-altering terror attacks... the attacks that is, that killed the 9-11 widow's husbands.
Ghoulish Righty ANN COULTER infamously derided Mrs. Briteweiser and the other 9-11 widow activists as "activist harpies.. rich because of their husband's deaths... using their CELEBRITY to play PARTISAN POLITICS."
Of course, "USING THEIR CELEBRITY... to ENGAGE IN PARTISAN POLITICS" is THE_VERY_ DEFINITION of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, and other over-paid infotainers of the Radical, Reactionary Republican Right!

Because It's Not That Hard To Apologize--So Pass It On

This past week in response to John Kerry's remarks about our troops in Iraq, White House Spokesman, Tony Snow, stated that Kerry should apologize to the troops because he insulted them. Snow preached to Kerry that "it is not that hard to just apologize."
The audacity of the Bush Administration requesting John Kerry to apologize to the troops is astounding given the record this Republican Administration and Republican Congress have with regard to their use of our troops in Iraq.
Admittedly, John Kerry spoke words that offended our troops. As a mistake, a poor judgment call, or a bad delivery of a bad joke, John Kerry's utterance was just that-the passage of words at a speech he was giving to a group of students. Kerry's words did not cause the unnecessary death or injury of another human being. In short, at the end of the day, NOBODY DIED.
If only those words-NOBODY DIED-could be said about the words and actions of the Bush Administration and this Republican Congress in the past five years.
If saying sorry is just "not that hard to do"-according to President Bush's official spokesman, then perhaps President Bush can start apologizing for the many things he is responsible for in the past 5 years. Here is the beginning of that list:
1. Failing to heed and act upon the many intelligence and threat reports during the summer of 2001 to either delay, prevent, or mitigate the attacks of 9/11.
2. Failing to act swiftly, competently, and decisively as Commander in Chief during the 9/11 attacks.
3. Failing to prevent and/or solve the Anthrax attacks of October 2001.
4. Failing to capture Osama Bin Laden.
5. Failing to maintain order and control in present-day Afghanistan.
6. Failing to hold any appointed or elected official accountable for their failure to delay, prevent, or mitigate the attacks of 9/11.
7. Failing to support the creation of a 9/11 Commission to make the nation safer.
8. Failing to cooperate with the investigation of the 9/11 Commission to make the nation safer.
9. Failing to enact the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission to make the nation safer.
10. Failing to be prepared with evacuation protocols, local and federal emergency response, etc. with regard to Hurricane Katrina.
11. Supporting the use of Torture in Abu Ghraib that has placed our troops and intelligence officials lives in danger and harmed the United States' reputation in the world.
12. Supporting the violation of Human Rights at Gitmo that has enabled al Qaeda to spread their own propaganda.
13. Supporting the circumvention of U.S. constitutional privacy rights by creating the Patriot Act and the NSA Surveillance Program without providing/wanting any evidence that such entities have prevented any attacks or saved even one life.
14. Failing to take responsibility for the 16 words in the State of the Union Address that misled the American public about WMD in Iraq.
15. Failing to take responsibility for Colin Powell's misleading statements to the U.N. regarding WMD in Iraq.
16. Failing to hold former DCI George Tenet accountable for his failure in providing accurate intelligence regarding the real threat posed by WMD in Iraq.
17. Making fun of the missing WMD during the foreign correspondents dinner in 2003 where you were videotaped walking around the Oval Office looking under the desk, behind the paintings etc asking: Are they over here? Are they there? Where are they? (Talk about a bad joke.)
18. Starting a pre-emptive war in Iraq-a nation that had nothing to do with 9/11.
19. Stating: "Mission Accomplished"
20. For the nearly 3000 U.S. soldiers who have died since you chose to start a war in Iraq that has made the terrorists more lethal and America more vulnerable.
The list could continue on, but perhaps a better way to affect real, meaningful change is for others to add to it.
If everyone adds at least one new item and then passes the list on to their friends by next Tuesday, perhaps all Americans will realize that our vote is not only a referendum on Iraq, but also a referendum on every single item on this list.
Our list represents the facts, the reality, and the truth. Granted, these facts, this reality, and the truth might not favor the Republicans on Election Day. But instead of APOLOGIZING for that, the American public should REMEMBER that when we all vote next Tuesday.
