Bush tells righty reporter Fred Barnes "capturing bin Laden NOT a priority." Dems AWOL, useless, as usual...

Over at TheHill.com, Republican officials are bragging that 14 House seats once up for grabs are now (more) safely in the Repub. column.

http://www.thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/091406/pundits.html

We fnd it quite impossible to gauge the actual favorability/unfavorability ratings (polls) this mid-September, but we DO notice one very important element that is RIGHT_ON_TRACK...

...as with JOHN KERRY in 2004, the Democrats are delivering a MUDDLED MESSAGE, that gets MORE TIMID, TEPID, FACELESS, and PATHETIC the closer we get to election day.

Once again, we have to ask: "IS the SKULL & BONES, throw-the-election FIX in?"

Are Democrats #1. so ENAMORED of ever-expanding wars, and SS Reichsfurher powers of absolute life-and-death over ANYONE caught up in a US dragnet (including even hapless goat-herders) in the "war on terror" that they, the DLC/establishment Dems, are PURPOSELY muddling the message this fall?
(aka the AIPAC/neo-con fix)

Or, #2. are the Democrats fearful of Kerry's position in 2004, knowing that IF they WIN the election, THEY WILL BEAR THE BRUNT of eternal right-wing recriminations and condemnations (unto eternity, if you'll pardon the redundency) for "LOSING THE WAR ON TERROR." (or at least pulling US troops out of the killing-zones of Iraq, and redeploying them to Kurdistan... or...?)

Both of these entail a terrifying prospect: that Mr. Bush will, as in 2000, 2002, and 2004, declare that he has "WON A MANDATE!" and immediately proceed with engraving-in-stone his REAL agenda. Namely, military action against Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, AND continued occupation of Iraq AND bombings or other action against Iran; a MILITARY DRAFT to fulfill the warm-bodies count for same; which will quickly run into a "need" to use TACTICAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS (which the Righty neo-cons have LONG lusted over using); and of course SUMMARY DETENTION, TORTURE, arrest, SPYING and prosecution powers for the president, aka the Henrich Himmler "Reichsfurher SS/Defender of the Reich" powers.

We here at C-dems.blgspt.com have commented at length (although of course far from completely) on the historical, structural, and personality conflicts within the Democratic Party that continually lead to MUDDLED MESSAGES and wishy-washy candidates presenting 'valence" (or mostly symbolic) issues.

Yet NONE of that is sufficient excuse for THIS muddled election season. You almost (ALMOST! is the operative word here) have to feel sorry for CIA-agent-outing Smear-meister KARL ROVE....

Rove, like his Repub. PR predecessors ("Travel-office-gate," "Lincoln bedroom 'scandal,' 'China-gate') can turn a molehill of a non-scandal into a CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY practically overnight, as, in fact, many Republicans leaders on Capitol Hill WERE calling for CRIMINAL INDICMENTS and congressional investigations into the "WHITE HOUSE TRASHING" 'scandal' - despite the fact that NO ONE, ANYWHERE, could find ONE SINGLE PHOTOGRAPH in support of the fountains of ink and forest of trees felled to sustain the WASHINGTON POST's and NEW YORK TIMES' blaring, hysterical, criminal accusations of "trashing government property!" (at the sacrosanct White House at that), all part of an orchesrated and effective KARL ROVE SMEAR JOB. (Hat-tip to the Times and Post editors for doing their part to hack and slash at opposition-party democracy, not to mention fair and honest reporting.)

Given Rove's ability to FABRICATE SCANDAL and CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS from out of thin air, one almost has to feel a tinge of sympathy for him... JUST IMAGINE WHAT HE COULD DO were he a Democrat campaign strategist with ONE-ONE-HUNDREDTH of the financing available to either the Republican or Democratic parties this season! Rove is of course in charge of the Republican campaign, and doing very well with it; but he lacks the subsantive issues that the Democrats SHOULD be MAKING HAY over.

You know.. 'issues' like George W. Bush's FEMA director dining at 5-star restaurants in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as New Orleans flooding victims died of thirst in the Superdome emergency evacuation shelter... even as network news trucks DROVE UP TO THAT STADIUM! (And Wal-Mart trucks loaded with water were TURNED AWAY.)

You know.. "issues" like Dick Cheney AWARDING NO-BID, NO-OVERSIGHT CONTRACTS to Halliburton corp., EVEN AS HE PERSONALLY PROFITS from the rise in Halliburton's stock price!

(Speaking of which, the clueless, invertabrate Senate Democrats STILL haven't made an issue of DON RUMSFELD SHAKING SADDAM's HAND in 1987, or DICK CHENEY, as Chairman and CEO of Halliburton, SELLING SADDAM's Iraq THE LATEST OIL-DRILLING technology in the late 1990's via Halliburton's European subsidiaries!

You know... "ISSUES" like the "PRIVATIZATION" of America's voting process by DEIBOLD, ES&S, and other Republican-owned corporations, with vast amounts of documentation that the computerized voting process is a Hacker's (or vote-stealer's) wet-dream. (The "cotton is king' southern SLAVE economy was also based on "PRIVATE OWNERSHIP" of armies of slaves, we feel compelled to remind.)

YOU KNOW.... "ISSUES" like the Bush administration LETTING OSAMA bin LADEN ROAM FREE, issuing VIDEOTAPES on the eve of every major American election!

You almost have to wonder... IS KARL ROVE financing - paying for - Osama's new, updated video studios??

And are the DLC/DSCC Democrats in on the scheme?

Bush Tells Barnes Capturing Bin Laden Is ‘Not A Top Priority Use of American Resources’
http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/14/barnes-osama/

Weekly Standard editor Fred Barnes appeared on Fox this morning to discuss his recent meeting with President Bush in the Oval Office. The key takeaway for Barnes was that “bin Laden doesn’t fit with the administration’s strategy for combating terrorism.” Barnes said that Bush told him capturing bin Laden is “not a top priority use of American resources.” Watch it.

Bush’s priorities have always been skewed. Just months after declaring he wanted bin Laden “dead or alive,” Bush said, “I truly am not that concerned about him.” Turning his attention away from bin Laden, Bush trained his focus on Iraq — a country he now admits had “nothing” to do with 9/11.

Capturing bin Laden, as Rep. Nancy Pelosi recently pointed out, will not necessarily make America safer because it would come five years too late. Yet, capturing or killing the man responsible for 9/11 should remain a high priority.

HOST: Alright Fred, you and a few other journalists were in the Oval Office with the President, right? And he says catching Osama bin Laden is not job number one?

BARNES: Well, he said, look, you can send 100,000 special forces, that’s the figure he used, to the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan and hunt him down, but he just said that’s not a top priority use of American resources. His vision of a war on terror is one that involves intelligence to find out from people, to get tips, to follow them up and break up plots to kill Americans before they occur. That’s what happened recently in that case of the planes that were to be blown up by terrorists, we think coming from England, and that’s the top priority. He says, you know, getting Osama bin Laden is a low priority compared to that.
