It's official. Cowering Dems out to LOOSE in 2006...

(sigh)  It's official.  Democrat "leaders" are determined to LOOSE in 2006.

....which means war with Iran, which means Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq (not to overlook Iran) will go completely out of control (bush-rumsfeld-cheney-USAF, if not IDF, are quite frankly drooling over prospects of using "bunker-buster nukes" in Iran already), (in Afghanistan this past week they had to kill 50 "Talibs" http://dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story/0,20281,18365605-5001027,00.html; over in Pakistan the natives are beginning to reject their bush-sponsored dictator Musharaff, as in putting their lives in front of bullets
http://www.guardian.co.uk/pakistan/Story/0,,1724428,00.html; over at AIPAC (the Jewish Israel lobby) madman john bolton is also drooling with anticipation, the American-slave-trader-throwback wants to do to Iran what death squads did to Latin America, and what the US is currently doing to Iraq;
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11684031   (which means, yes, the Jewish lobby is officially taking up from where PNAC neo-con intellectuals such as Wolfowitz/Perle/Feith/Kruathammer et al have left off,  perfectly happy to support Bolton's death squads in Latin America and the Dieboldization of the American voting process, as long as they get US military forces killing Muslims in the Middle East).....

....AND of course there are all those in-your-face Republican CORRUPTION cases underway, from Abramoff (the extortion arm of the bush-deLay govt) to Cunningham to DeLay to Halliburton to Bob Ney (Ohio) to FEMA/Katrina/cherfoff/bush/brown to Katherine Harris (FL) to Ohio's DIEBOLD sponsoring Sec. of State Ken Blackwell, to now, the NAIL in the Democrats coffin, the DIEBOLD voting machines have been officially entrenched in that great state of CALIFORNIA, by that usual combination, millions of Fed dollars (the multimillion dollar vote-machine law, "HAVA" I think it is called), Republican pressures, and a Repuglican Secretary of State).

SO... WHAT are the Democrats doing???

answer:  Pelosis (Dem. minority House 'leader') and Reid (Sen. minority "leader") are ONCE AGAIN BASHING   DNC  Chair Howard Dean!    In this case, because Dean is... GASP!  spending DNC money in the Deep South and western states, trying to drum up local opposition (outrage) to the above Republican crimes, frauds, and incompetencies. It is what Dean PLEDGED, what he PROMISED he would do if he became DNC Chair (fight back against Bush-GOP right smack in middle of "Red-states"), so WHAT is Pelosi/Reid's quibble this time??

Why, "Dean is spending too much of our precious Dem. campaign dollars on states that won't affect the '06 outcome. They aren't 'undecided battleground states!" (being thoroughly "red" pro bush-gop), "SO" Pelosi/Reid/DLC want to "FORGET ABOUT 'EM!"

     Here's the article.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/04/AR2006030400998.html

So, what is the specific 'club' (argument) that Pelosi/Reid use to BASH Dean with in the above WP article??

answer:  Why, John Kerry was able to raise $300,000 in two days from Dem. donors by doing it 'the old fashioned way,' raising more than $1 million overall for Democrats by mostly going to his big donors, "not rocking the boat," NOT saying anything "outrageous" or too openly critical of Bush-GOP and the Republican Scandal Machine.

See how the Democrat Party works?  The "leadership", Pelosi-Reid-kerry, BASHES Howard Dean for SPENDING TOO MUCH trying to tap into Democratic "base" OUTRAGE vs. Bush-gop even in "red states," while simultaneously they (Pelosi, Reid, Dem. 'powers that be') sit on a war chest of millions of dollars, in essence repeating the dismal Kerry-Edwards campaign of 2004, the most critical things Kerry-Edwards could bring themselves to say in that appalling campaign was the pathetic pabulum "it's time for a change."

So Kerry, by raising a million bucks or so, is out to REPRISE HIS OLD 2004 ROLE: ROB the Democratic faithful of any RED MEAT ISSUES, even with Bush-GOP crimes, incompetence's, and in-your-face frauds too numerous to list in one long letter/editorial!   And sure enough, there are Pelosi and Reid jumping on board, forming a CIRCULAR FIRING SQUAD to blast DEAN, instead of voicing outrage at the Bush-GOP agenda and frauds!

Don't take my word for it.  I've footnoted this commentary with 5-6 citations from today's "mainstream news" organizations, but even more informative, look at the satire "Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over" by the satire site "The Onion"  (reprinted below).

EVERY ONE of the Onion's Jan. 2001 predictions has come true - every word is spot-on; and quite simply, The Onion KNEW EXACTLY what election 2000 was about, even as the vast majority of pundits and paid political commentators (not to mention Gore-Lieberman campaign strategists such as Donna Brazille) just "didn't get it" about what "nice guy, straight shooter" george w. bush's real 2000 agenda was about.

Then, compare the Jan. 2000 "Onion" article with their latest masterpiece, "Democrats Vow Not To Give Up Hopelessness"  [aka "Dems confident in ability to SNATCH DEFEAT from jaws of victory in 2006"]

Yep, the die is cast.  For FAILING to STAND UP to Republican voter fraud in 2000, 2002, and 2004, Dems are now faced with REPUBLICAN DIEBOLD VOTE MACHINES - no audit, no verification, no paper trail - in California in 2006, which means the election is over, a done deal.  As if that wasn't bad enough, the Dem. leadership would *STILL*  PREFER TO BASH FIGHTING DEMS, while they, the corp. Democrats, brag about their fundraising prowess, even as serial Republican corruption (Halliburton won all of its $240million in disputed government pay, despite reams of evidence of cooked contracts and contract nonperformance) means that Republican-friendly corporations can easily and willingly write million-dollar donation checks.  Hell, what's one million bucks out of $240 million that Halliburton didn't earn, on top of the BILLIONS in no-bid contracts the cheney-bush government has already awarded Halliburton?

During the Civil War, even in the Deepest, Southern States (South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, etc), there were significant numbers of Americans OPPOSED to the Confederacy - West Virginia seceded from Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland never joined the Rebels, and throughout the Deep South there were families torn apart by the secession.

But in 2006 the Dem. leadership is DETERMINED to GIVE UP THE SHIP without a fight.  Just as McClellan RETREATED from the gates of Richmond in 1862 (despite inflicting heavier losses on Lee's Confederate army), thereby ensuring ANOTHER THREE YEARS OF CIVIL WAR.

Oh sure, they (the Dem "leadership") will raise millions, and go through the motions of opposing the Repuglican onslaught, just as Gore-lieberman and kerry-edwards did in 2000/2004.  But there will be NO FIGHT there... just "time for a change" pabulum that DEPRESSES the Democratic base, and inspires scorn if not contempt from the "undecided" center/independent voters, who may not have time to keep up on the 'news', but can realize that the Dems. are saying a whole lot of nuthin, abjectly failing to STAND UP for ANY of their "CORE-CONSTITUENCIES."  NO, Virginia, the Reid-Pelosi-kerry-lieberman Democrats WILL NOT STAND UP for disenfranchised voters, Katrina FEMA incompetenc victims, seniors requiring Medicare prescriptions (except in the vaguest, most dismal terms), women and girls requiring reproductive health access (you'll listen loud and long to hear the Dems. CRITICIZE South Dakata's Talibanesque abortion-outlawing bill),VETERANS requiring PTSD and other recovery assistance, etc., ad naseum.  And "independent/middle voters" REALIZE how pathetic the Dem. 'leadership's' message is, and NO, that wishy-washy, "LET'S LOOSE like kerry and gore already have" campaign will NOT inspire voters, especially with Republicans already set to ratchet up the "MORAL VALUES/EVIL DOERS/SOFT ON TERROR" rhetoric, as they are doing in South Dakota.

Indeed, two of the pathetic losers from 2000 and 2004, lieberman and edwards, are practically monopolizing C-SPAN's coverage of Democrats this past week.

OH JOY, Democratic voters!  john edwards and joe lieberman are now officially anointed, by C-SPAN and the Democratic 'leadership', as your SPOKESMEN in 2006!  Send in your campaign contributions to the pathetic rat hole of "retreat, surrender, and worship Bush-GOP before fighting!" the  brand-new campaign mantra of the Democratic leadership in 2006.

(Dean's Dem. National Committee, DNC, the overall "support all Dem. candidates" group, not to be confused with the Dem. Leadership Conference (DLC), the Dem. Senate Campaign Committee, DSCC; the Dem. Congressional Campaign committee, DCCC; or other official Dem groups, etc.  The DLC in particular is the right-leaning organization that was favored by Bill Clinton on such issues as "welfare reform" and other "move to the middle" issues.  But today, ever since the debacle of Gore-Lieberman in 2000, the DNC is almost indistinguishable from the radical-right Bush-GOP agenda, Senator Lieberman is being called a Republican in Dems. clothing by the majority of nonofficial Dem. party activists, including a sizable contingent of disaffected Dems. contesting lieberman in the Conn. senate primary this year.)

Bush: 'Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over'
January 17, 2001 | Issue 37•01
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28784

WASHINGTON, DC–Mere days from assuming the presidency and closing the door on eight years of Bill Clinton, president-elect George W. Bush assured the nation in a televised address Tuesday that "our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is finally over."

     [photo - Enlarge Image
President-elect Bush vows that "together, we can put the triumphs of the recent past behind us." ]

"My fellow Americans," Bush said, "at long last, we have reached the end of the dark period in American history that will come to be known as the Clinton Era, eight long years characterized by unprecedented economic expansion, a sharp decrease in crime, and sustained peace overseas. The time has come to put all of that behind us."

Bush swore to do "everything in [his] power" to undo the damage wrought by Clinton's two terms in office, including selling off the national parks to developers, going into massive debt to develop expensive and impractical weapons technologies, and passing sweeping budget cuts that drive the mentally ill out of hospitals and onto the street.

During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years.

"You better believe we're going to mix it up with somebody at some point during my administration," said Bush, who plans a 250 percent boost in military spending. "Unlike my predecessor, I am fully committed to putting soldiers in battle situations. Otherwise, what is the point of even having a military?"

On the economic side, Bush vowed to bring back economic stagnation by implementing substantial tax cuts, which would lead to a recession, which would necessitate a tax hike, which would lead to a drop in consumer spending, which would lead to layoffs, which would deepen the recession even further.

Wall Street responded strongly to the Bush speech, with the Dow Jones industrial fluctuating wildly before closing at an 18-month low. The NASDAQ composite index, rattled by a gloomy outlook for tech stocks in 2001, also fell sharply, losing 4.4 percent of its total value between 3 p.m. and the closing bell.

Asked for comment about the cooling technology sector, Bush said: "That's hardly my area of expertise."

Turning to the subject of the environment, Bush said he will do whatever it takes to undo the tremendous damage not done by the Clinton Administration to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He assured citizens that he will follow through on his campaign promise to open the 1.5 million acre refuge's coastal plain to oil drilling. As a sign of his commitment to bringing about a change in the environment, he pointed to his choice of Gale Norton for Secretary of the Interior. Norton, Bush noted, has "extensive experience" fighting environmental causes, working as a lobbyist for lead-paint manufacturers and as an attorney for loggers and miners, in addition to suing the EPA to overturn clean-air standards.

Bush had equally high praise for Attorney General nominee John Ashcroft, whom he praised as "a tireless champion in the battle to protect a woman's right to give birth."

"Soon, with John Ashcroft's help, we will move out of the Dark Ages and into a more enlightened time when a woman will be free to think long and hard before trying to fight her way past throngs of protesters blocking her entrance to an abortion clinic," Bush said. "We as a nation can look forward to lots and lots of babies."

Continued Bush: "John Ashcroft will be invaluable in healing the terrible wedge President Clinton drove between church and state."

The speech was met with overwhelming approval from Republican leaders.

"Finally, the horrific misrule of the Democrats has been brought to a close," House Majority Leader Dennis Hastert (R-IL) told reporters. "Under Bush, we can all look forward to military aggression, deregulation of dangerous, greedy industries, and the defunding of vital domestic social-service programs upon which millions depend. Mercifully, we can now say goodbye to the awful nightmare that was Clinton's America."

"For years, I tirelessly preached the message that Clinton must be stopped," conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh said. "And yet, in 1996, the American public failed to heed my urgent warnings, re-electing Clinton despite the fact that the nation was prosperous and at peace under his regime. But now, thank God, that's all done with. Once again, we will enjoy mounting debt, jingoism, nuclear paranoia, mass deficit, and a massive military build-up."

An overwhelming 49.9 percent of Americans responded enthusiastically to the Bush speech.

"After eight years of relatively sane fiscal policy under the Democrats, we have reached a point where, just a few weeks ago, President Clinton said that the national debt could be paid off by as early as 2012," Rahway, NJ, machinist and father of three Bud Crandall said. "That's not the kind of world I want my children to grow up in."

"You have no idea what it's like to be black and enfranchised," said Marlon Hastings, one of thousands of Miami-Dade County residents whose votes were not counted in the 2000 presidential election. "George W. Bush understands the pain of enfranchisement, and ever since Election Day, he has fought tirelessly to make sure it never happens to my people again."

Bush concluded his speech on a note of healing and redemption.

"We as a people must stand united, banding together to tear this nation in two," Bush said. "Much work lies ahead of us: The gap between the rich and the poor may be wide, be there's much more widening left to do. We must squander our nation's hard-won budget surplus on tax breaks for the wealthiest 15 percent. And, on the foreign front, we must find an enemy and defeat it."

"The insanity is over," Bush said. "After a long, dark night of peace and stability, the sun is finally rising again over America. We look forward to a bright new dawn not seen since the glory days of my dad."

Democrats Vow Not To Give Up Hopelessness

February 27, 2006 | Issue 42•09
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/45793

WASHINGTON, DC—In a press conference on the steps of the Capitol Monday, Congressional Democrats announced that, despite the scandals plaguing the Republican Party and widespread calls for change in Washington, their party will remain true to its hopeless direction.

"We are entirely capable of bungling this opportunity to regain control of the House and Senate and the trust of the American people," Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said to scattered applause. "It will take some doing, but we're in this for the long and pointless haul."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi reaffirms the Democratic Party’s promise to remain marginalized.

"We can lose this," Reid added. "All it takes is a little lack of backbone."

Despite plummeting poll numbers for the G.O.P nationwide and an upcoming election in which all House seats and 33 Senate seats are up for contention, Democrats pledged to maintain their party's sheepish resignation.

"In times like these, when the American public is palpably dismayed with the political status quo, it is crucial that Democrats remain unfocused and defer to the larger, smarter, and better-equipped Republican machine," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said. "If we play our cards right, we will be intimidated to the point of total paralysis."

Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) cited the Bush Administration's bungled response to Hurricane Katrina as a model for Democrats.

"Grandmothers drowning in nursing homes, families losing everything, communities torn apart—and the ruling party just sat and watched," Lieberman said. "I'm here to promise that we Democrats will find a way to let you down just like that."

According to Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Democrats are not willing to sacrifice their core values—indecision, incoherence, and disorganization—for the sake of short-term electoral gain.

"Don't lose faithlessness, Democrats," Kennedy said. "The next election is ours to lose. To those who say we can't, I say: Remember Michael Dukakis. Remember Al Gore. Remember John Kerry."

Kennedy said that, even if the Democrats were to regain the upper hand in the midterm elections, they would still need to agree on a platform and chart a legislative agenda—an obstacle he called "insurmountable."

"Universal health care, the war in Iraq, civil liberties, a living wage, gun control—we're not even close to a consensus within our own ranks," Kennedy said. "And even if we were, we wouldn't know how to implement that consensus."

Democratic Party faithful cheer on their leaders’ resolutely defeatist agenda.

"Some rising stars with leadership potential like [Sen. Barack] Obama (D-IL) and [New York State Attorney General Eliot] Spitzer have emerged, but don't worry: We've still got some infight left in us," Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said. "Over the last decade, we've found a reliably losing formula, and we're sticking with it."

Dean reminded Democratic candidates to "stay on our unclear message, maintain a defensive, reactive posture, and keep an elitist distance from voters."

Political consultant and Democratic operative James Carville said that, if properly disseminated, the message of hopelessness could be the Democrats' most effective in more than a decade.

"For the first time in a long time, we're really connecting with the American people, who are also feeling hopeless," Carville said. "If we can harness that and run on it in '06, I believe we can finish a strong second."
